Group work October 2017

Week of October 2nd

At the start of the week I put the children into groups and set them the task of finding out about Malala Yousafaszi as part of our 'The Made A Difference' unit. I told them that I wanted to see how they worked in groups and gave them some example questions that they could use to help guide their research. The end product was to produce a poster showing their learning.

The videos confirmed my observations that effective group work not happening in my classroom.
One example is here...

At the end of this week I plan to show this to the class as our starting point for discussions on how we can make our group work more effective. Hopefully we will be able to create a 'group' code - something like the one below (found on http://www.helloliteracy.com/2012/02/informational-text-unit.html)

I will also get the complete a self-reflection sheet and use this as a piece of formative assessment.
